Our Chalenge was to make a car that goes 5m and stops at that 5m mark. This was a very hard challenge and after alot of trial and error we finally came up with "the independence." I had a great group and I like the way our car turned out,(somewhat). I learned all about different types of physics. I learned about the spring constant and thermal energy alot. We also learned how to make it stop at 5meters. Our solutionn to that is fix the length of our string.
We started out brainstorming lots of ideas on how to build our car. We knew from the start we wanted to use a rat trap. We came up with some blueprints and created the Indipendance. It took lots of tries to make the wheles circle annd how to get the body. We upgraded the car to the max and we still couldnt get it to go far. We tried our hardest and the farthest we got it to go was 2 meters.
Concepts of Physics
Spring constant- The spring constant is essentally how hard the spring is compressed or expanded. The spring in our project was our rubberbands. We used the equation F=kd to solve for the spring constant.
Spring Potential energy- When the spring is expanded or copresses it has a potential energy. It is the amont of energy the spring has.
Thermal energy- heat energy
Velocity- how fast the car goes on a distance.

There was a lot of takeaways from this project but the one that stood out to me was that we really made lemons into lemonade. We had a very poor project but we focused on the positives and capitalized on them. It was a really fun project and hope to work on something like this in the future. As a person I gained my skills to work with people better. We had a huge challenge and i think we worked very well as a team and I like how it turned out.
